But, I have to share my latest state of ecstasy.
I’ve been a shameful fan lately. I’ve been so preoccupied that I haven’t taken the time to fully listen to any of the songs on the Newsboys latest album. Basically, I listened to the first 30 seconds of each song on iTunes because A) I didn’t have any money in my iTunes account and B) I’ve really been into 80’s lately.
Ok, so actually there is a 3rd reason why I haven’t listened to it: I’ve been listening to dcTalk’s Supernatural CD over, and over, and over……
There is something really amazing that happens when the three voices of dcTalk join in harmony. If you have never listened to them, you should. There’s this almost creepy, magical thing that happens, and I get chills on my arms almost every time I hear them.

[I don’t know which one I love more.]
[I lied, yes I do. Toby will always be my heartthrob.]
When I was about 12, dcTalk broke up. It’s been the single most horrifying and disappointing thing in my life. (I know, I need help.) First of all, they were the best, and their harmony will never be replicated. Secondly, they broke up before I had the chance to see them in concert. This regret is something that I carry with me all the time. Like seriously. Every time I go to a concert, I think “I’m never going to get to do this with dcTalk.”
Imagine my excitement when I found out that Michael Tait (formerly of dcTalk) would be taking the lead singer position for the Newsboys!!
Anyway, I have really missed Kevin Max singing with Tait in all of this. His hauntingly beautiful notes have a way of knocking the breath out of my lungs while sending a searing and suffocating heat through my chest. All the while, my spine turns to ice and the wracking chills take over.
It’s like being summoned or something…
Soo…when Duncan Phillips, the drummer for Newsboys, followed me on Twitter (great PR), I was suddenly like, OMG! I forgot about their NEW CD!!!
And if I only would have listened to it two months ago:
Listen at 3:01. Pure, unadulterated Kevin Max.
By the time I heard the trill between 3:05 and 3:06, I was ACTUALLY SCREAMING.
It sounded something like this:
“OMG- OMG- OMGGGG!!! IT’S KEVIN!! OMG, AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
And then the paralysis came.
I’m not the only one who sees the sparks that fly when Kevin’s and Michael’s voice mix:
I just can’t get over it. I need therapy. It is therapy. I need therapy from therapy.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW I love Kevin Max' Voice soooooooooooooooooooooooo Much I was sad when I heard dc Talk went on Hiatus too....
ReplyDelete(They didn't break up I can't wait until they reunite)
Anyway when I found out Kevin was on the new CD I was over joyed, I mean it is impossible to imagine a life with out his music!
Kevin Max himself retweeted you on twitter (which is how I found this.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one screaming with joy...We were in the car listening to "God's Not Dead" when I look at Calaeb and said "OH MY GOSH! TURN IT UP!!! IT"S KEVIN MAX!!!!!!!!!!" He was like..."who?". Seriously, the boy needs some moosik education...
ReplyDeleteI so so miss DC Talk. They were the Christian band that got me into Christian music and they were just a big part of my early teen music years. I loved hearing Kevin on the song, so amazing. I can't wait until DC Talk does a reunited tour. I SO want to see it since I also never got to see them perform live in concert.
